Building a Business With Family & Community in Mind
Billy Callaway always dreamed of owning his own business, which is something he had in common with his wife, Melissa, when they met nearly 19 years ago.
With a family history of entrepreneurship and paving experience in the Pacific Northwest, Billy knew he wanted to create something he could be proud of. After years of working long hours, enduring toxic work cultures, and being away from home for months at a time, he took the leap and started Core Paving in October 2020.
Today, Core Paving is growing steadily and has served over 700 customers since its inception. We’ve stayed true to our original purpose: providing high-quality service, caring for our employees, and remaining rooted in the Mat-Su Valley community.

How thick is the asphalt you install?
Core Paving installs asphalt with a standard finish depth of approximately 2 inches.
Do I need to call utility locates before you start?
No. For most paving projects, we dig about 3–5 inches for leveling and asphalt, which is considered shallow. However, if your project requires deeper excavation, we’ll handle the utility locates.
How long before I can park on the new asphalt?
Core Paving recommends waiting at least 3 days to allow the asphalt to properly cure. The longer you wait, the better.
Do you work on residential and commercial properties?
Yes. We’ve worked on everything from private driveways to large commercial lots and land development sites.
Do you provide free estimates?
